About the recipe

Bifanas à moda do Porto tend to be saucier and more intensely seasoned, with a generous aromatic sauce.

The pork cooks in the sauce until tender, then goes into a simple bread roll with plenty of sauce.

Ingredients

  • 700 g thin pork steaks
  • 6 bread rolls
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 200 ml beer or broth
  • 100 ml of white wine
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Paprika and piri-piri to taste
  • Olive oil, salt and pepper

Method

  1. Season the meat with garlic, bay leaves, salt and pepper.
  2. Sauté garlic and paprika in olive oil.
  3. Add liquids and bring to a boil.
  4. Add the meat and cook in the sauce.
  5. Adjust spiciness.
  6. Serve on bread with plenty of sauce.

  • Thin slices cook better.
  • Sauce should be intense and abundant.
